Instrumentation Plan

CC8 Instrumentation Plan

Instrumentation was placed in the P-152M subgrade, P-154M subbase, and P-501MR Portland Cement Concrete (PCC) surface layers. Moisture sensors (placed in the P-152M and P-154M layers) and pressure cells (placed in the P-152M layer) were the only sensors placed in the subgrade and subbase layers. Instrumentation within P-501MR was selected and installed to monitor vertical movement of the test slabs and measure strain responses at the top and bottom of the slab. The gauge selection was based on reliability, accuracy, and ease of handling at the construction site. The types and quantity of each gauge in addition to the sections they were placed in are presented in the table below.

CC8 Phase 1 Overload & Phase 2 Overlay Test

The images below displays the instrumentation plan for both Phase 1 and Phase 2. Sensors denoted with a 'O-I' in the name specify Phase 1 Overload. Sensors denoted with O-II' in the name specify Phase 2 Overlay.

For a table of sensor coordinates for the different phases reference Sheet 14 of 34 of the CC8 As-Built Drawings linked above.
