Back to CC2 Phase III Twin Slab

Two identical PCC slabs were constructed at the NAPTF on October 13, 2004. One slab was placed inside the NAPTF building and the other outside the building near the south wall. The indoor slab was placed on a 20 ft. by 20 ft. exposed area of an existing 6 in. thick econocrete stabilized base remaining from a previous NAPTF research study. The outdoor slab was placed on a 20 ft. by 20 ft. by 18 in. thick econocrete stabilized base and was level with the soil grade. Both slabs were 15 ft. by 15 ft. by 11 in. thick (same dimensions as the CC2 Phase II) and had no fly ash in the cementitious mix. Similar construction procedures, instrumentation, and monitoring techniques were applied.

Each slab was wet-cured for 68 days using burlap strips, timed soaker hoses, and plastic sheet coverings. All equipment and coverings were then removed.
