Airport Safety & Surveillance Sensors

There is a need to detect, locate, and track all targets the on airport surface to ensure safety and security. Traditionally, surveillance of the airport surface has been realized only by visual control (i.e. target identification by eye), but sensor systems would enable airports to safely and capably monitor vehicle and human ground traffic, even during low visibility conditions.

Advancements in security surveillance systems supplement and may replace on-foot monitoring of airport intruders.  These systems could also aid in several other applications, including the monitoring of ramps and runways for reduced vehicle incursions.
