CC8 Painting Plan

Painting of the CC8 Test area was completed by the contractor using a water based paint material in accordance with the As-Built Plan and typical line striping equipment to complete the task. The task was completed in February 2016.

 

Additional test slab identification and Non-Destructive Testing (NDT) locations were marked not for FAA specification, but rather to aid in facilitating testing and discussion within the facility.  The markings provided the pavement engineers and researchers with known locations for data collection and pavement monitoring during traffic testing. NDT test locations were denoted with a 12” blue circle as seen below.

CC8 Phase 1 Overload Test Section

The painting plan for the Phase 1 Overload Test section was performed from STA 2+95 to 4+00. Painting of the Overload Test Section consisted of painting the centerline, transitions, safety lines and NDT drop locations.


The items were painted as followed:


  • Centerline was painted 8” wide and in yellow
  • Transitions were painted 4” wide and in black
  • Safety lines were painted 4” wide and in yellow
  • NDT Test locations were 12” diameter circles painted blue
  • Letters were painted 12” tall and 2.5” thick and in white, outside of the test area

CC8 Phase 2 Overlay Test Section

The painting plan for the Phase 2 Overlay Test section was performed from STA 2+95 to 4+00. Painting of the Overlay Test section consisted of painting the centerline, transitions, safety lines and NDT drop locations.


The items were painted as followed:


  • Centerline was painted 12” wide and in yellow
  • Transitions were painted 4” wide and in black
  • Safety lines were painted 4” wide and in yellow
  • NDT Test locations were 12” diameter circles painted blue
  • Letters were painted 12” tall and 2.5” thick and in black, outside of the test area

CC8 Phase 3 Joint Comparison Test Section

The painting plan for the Phase 3 Joint Comparison Test section was performed from STA 4+00 to 4+90. Painting of the Joint Comparison Test section consisted of painting the centerline, transitions, safety lines and NDT drop locations.


The items were painted as followed:


  • Centerline was painted 12” wide and in yellow
  • Transitions were painted 4” wide and in black
  • Safety lines were painted 4” wide and in yellow
  • NDT Test locations were 12” diameter circles painted blue
  • Letters were painted 12” tall and 2.5” thick and in black, outside of the test area

CC8 Phase 4 Strength & Fatigue Test Section

The painting plan for the Phase 4 Strength & Fatigue Test section was performed from STA 5+00 to 6+55. Painting of the Strength & Fatigue Test section consisted of painting the centerline, transitions, safety lines, NDT drop locations and notch lines.


The items were painted as followed:


  • Centerline was painted 12” wide and in yellow
  • Transitions were painted 4” wide and in black
  • Safety lines were painted 4” wide and in yellow
  • NDT Test locations were 12” diameter circles painted blue
  • Letters were painted 12” tall and 2.5” thick and in black, outside of the test area
  • Notch Lines were painted 2.5” x 12” dashes with 6” spaces and in black
