Evaluation of Cast-in-Place Concrete Light Base Can

The purpose of this project is to evaluate the installation procedure and in-service performance of a cast-in-place concrete in-pavement airfield lighting fixture base can.  Currently, the only Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) approved cans are constructed of galvanized steel.  Two cans were installed at the FAA Technical Center, and loads were applied.  Results of the testing show the installation procedure can be readily followed, and that the units, as installed will withstand forces produced by a braking or turning aircraft.
