Members of the Airport Technology Research & Development (ATR) Branch received the Team Excellence Award at the 24th Annual National Awards for Excellence Program held at FAA Headquarters in Washington, D.C on September 28, 2023. The award was presented to the cross-functional Vertiport Design Standards Team, of which ATR’s Ryan King, Darian Byrd, and Dr. Wesley Major are a part.

The Vertiport Design Standards team includes John Dermody AAS-1, Patricia Hiatt AAS-2, Janel Showalter AAS-2, Michael Meyers AAS-100, Keri Lyons AAS-200, Robert Bassey AAS-110, Raymond Zee AAS-110, Jonathan Torres AAS-200, Michael Branum AAS-200, Christopher Criswell AAS-120, David Carlin AEA-NYC-ADO, Michael Price ACO-100, Christina Nutting APP-410, Michael Hines APP-400, and Alberto Cruz AWP-620.

The multi-year project started in 2019, with ATR’s research supporting the Office of Airports (ARP) in the development of Vertiport Standards.
